Number Pyramid is an original logic and arithmetic game built around one of the most elegant structures in recreational mathematics. A pyramid of blocks sits before you: every block must equal the sum of the two blocks immediately below it. Some values are given; the rest are blank. Your task is to deduce, calculate, and fill in every missing number so the entire pyramid holds together. Simple to start, genuinely tricky on hard mode.

The Mathematical Idea

The number pyramid is a concrete model of additive relationships. Each interior cell is determined by exactly two cells below it, so a single unknown anywhere in the pyramid can propagate upward and force constraints on every cell above it. This is the same logic that underlies algebra — finding an unknown from its relationship to known values — but here the reasoning happens in a visual, spatial structure rather than on a line of symbols.

A four-row pyramid has four base cells, three cells in the next row, two above that, and a single apex. The apex value is the sum of all four base values plus twice the sum of the two inner base values — a fact that is beautiful to discover and useful for checking your work without filling in every intermediate row.

How to Play

When the game loads, a pyramid appears with some cells already filled in (shown in blue) and others blank for you to complete. Click a blank box, type your value, then press Check Answers when you believe the pyramid is complete. Correct entries turn cyan; incorrect entries highlight red. Each fully correct pyramid earns points and advances the level. Choose Easy (entire base row revealed) or Hard (very few given values) after completing each pyramid.

A Worked Example

Suppose the base row reads 4, 13, 15, 2. The second row must be 4 + 13 = 17, then 13 + 15 = 28, then 15 + 2 = 17. The third row becomes 17 + 28 = 45 and 28 + 17 = 45. The apex is 45 + 45 = 90. On hard mode you might be given only two base values and the left cell of the second row, and must reason backwards and sideways to find every unknown — excellent algebraic reasoning practice.

Strategy Tips

Always fill in every cell you can determine directly from the given values before attempting to work backwards from constraints above. On hard mode, if two adjacent cells in the same row are both unknown, remember that their sum is fixed by the cell immediately above them — that constraint often lets you solve one unknown once a third clue elsewhere pins down the other. Checking your intermediate sums as you go prevents errors from cascading upward through the pyramid.
