Shape Score: Area and Perimeter Against the Clock
Shape Score brings basic geometry into a quick-fire format. A rectangle or square is described with its side lengths, and you are asked for either its area or its perimeter. Type the answer before the clock runs down. Play solo to sharpen your formulas, or face a friend in two-player mode and trade turns to see who scores more.
Game Modes & Timer
Choose 1 Player or 2 Players. In the two-player duel, the turn passes after each correct answer so both players tackle a fair mix of area and perimeter questions. Each round lasts 90 seconds — ample time to apply the formulas without rushing. The timer flashes red in the final ten seconds before the scores are compared.
How to Play
Pick the number of players and press Start. A shape and its dimensions appear with a request for area or perimeter. Work it out, type your answer in the box, and press Check or Enter. A correct answer scores a point and, in two-player mode, passes the turn. Keep going until the 90-second timer ends.
A Worked Example
Suppose the prompt is “Rectangle 6 by 4 — find the area.” Area of a rectangle is length × width, so 6 × 4 = 24. Type 24. If instead it asked for the perimeter, you would add all four sides: 6 + 4 + 6 + 4 = 20.
Strategy Tips
Keep the two formulas straight: area of a rectangle is length × width, while perimeter is twice the length plus twice the width. For a square, every side is equal, so area is side × side and perimeter is four times the side. Read the question carefully — mixing up area and perimeter is the most common mistake.
